Tesoro water polo season at Tesoro for 2010 started out a little rough. The head coach quit because of personal reasons. The swim coach from Tesoro accepted the position. As a team we just did not know what to expect. In fact Steven feared that they might loose all their games. Steven was elected Captain of the water polo team making him feel as if he had the world on his back
Surprise to everyone, we won quite a few and continued advancing. We finally came down to the Trabuco Hills game which was the make or break game or it was over for the season. Earlier in the season we had played them in our pool tying, going into over time and then finally having a sudden death. Tesoro won by one point.
At this game, we were at Trabuco's pool and the team was ready to win. We played a neck to neck game with Trabuco ahead. Finally in the last 20 seconds of the game, Tesoro scored to tie the game. In over time, each team scored two points ending in a tie again.
Now it was sudden death--whoever makes the first goal wins. Steven swam the ball down with a defender on his back and another defender in front. He threw a soft lob and scored. During this game, Steven had 7 goals, 13 steals, 4 assists and 2 blocks.
After the game, Steven said, "I'm not that good. I got a lot of help with that game."
